In the spring of 1819, a young fellow by the title of Henry Shaw from Sheffield, England landed in the small French village if St. Louis, Missouri. There he established up a business promoting components to the settlers that were heading out from the "Gateway to the West." Company was good and he was able to retire by the age of forty. Ole Henry would quickly become the biggest landowner in the metropolis. He built Tower Grove House, which grew to become his estate, and bought fairly a little bit of land about it.
